We all know Facebook owns both Instagram and WhatsApp but has kept these apps totally separate from each other. This has helped these apps to grow independently and to stay unaffected by all the privacy scandals going on with Facebook. It seems Facebook really wants everyone to know what apps they own
According to a report by The Information, Facebook will be renaming both Instagram and WhatsApp. These apps are to be called “Instagram by Facebook” and “WhatsApp by Facebook”.
Bertie Thomson, a spokeswoman from Facebook confirmed the reports saying “We want to be clearer about the products and services that are part of Facebook.”
The new names are expected to appear in the Google Play Store as well as the Apple App Store. According to the report, the ” From Facebook” addition won’t appear on the home screen for now, it’s possible the new name will be shown in other locations and in the apps when users log on or open any of these apps.
The name changes are regarding Mark Zuckerberg’s recent announcement of his vision for a connected and end-to-end encrypted messaging system between Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.
Tiny changes but lets see it affects the apps in anyway. Also tell us what you think about the name changes in the comment section below.
