Photo News: 7th TICAD opens in Japan with Buhari, world leaders in attendance

The 7th edition of Tokyo International Conference on African Development has officially opened in the city of Yokohama, Japan, with President Muhammadu Buhari and other World leaders in attendance.

The event started today, August 28 in the Asian country contrary to the claim of a proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The leader of the group had claimed that Buhari was not in Japan.

TICAD is a conference held every three years with the aim of promoting a high-level policy dialogue between African leaders and development partners.

Other co-organizers of TICAD are the United Nations Office of the Special Advisor on Africa (UN-OSSA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The last edition of the programme was held in Kenya on August 2016. It was the first time the event would be held in Africa, previous conferences were all held in Japan.
TICAD has been an evolving element in Japan’s long-term commitment to fostering peace and stability in Africa through collaborative partnerships.
